Pak-India tensions in Kashmir, Indian troops shot dead

On the first day of the new year, Pakistan shelled the Indian border guards along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir. An Indian regiment soldier was killed in the attack.

According to the Hindustan Times, tensions between the two countries’ border guards continued until the last news was received on Saturday (January 2nd).

According to Indian Army sources, the Pakistani army launched an attack on Indian Army bases across the border from around 3:30 pm on Friday (January 1). The firefight between the two sides continued till 5 pm in Naushera sector of Rajouri.

India alleges that the Pakistani army started firing without provocation. At one point in the shelling, they also fired mortar shells at Indian troops. The army member died on the spot after being hit by a bullet fired from across the border during the clash between the two sides.
